Ambassador Tihomir Stoytchev addressed the Washington Intergovernmental Professionals Group

The Washington Intergovernmental Professionals Group and the International Trade Center at the “Ronald Reagan” Building hosted Ambassador Tihomir Stoytchev as keynote speaker before leaders from among their 8000 members within the Federal Government, Congress and business community.

Ambassador Stoytchev described the historic and geopolitical context of Southeastern Europe and the Western Balkans in particular. He highlighted the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the United States, and the cooperation in the area of defense and security, law enforcement, and energy diversification. The significant increase in trade between the two countries was also a focus – an achievement to which three US trade missions to Bulgaria in the past two years contributed.

The Ambassador laid out Bulgaria’s unique FDI advantages, its priorities spanning over industries from automotive, ICT, energy, tourism, services and agriculture. The highly competitive cost of electricity was particularly highlighted as a favorable factor in the potential setup of energy consuming data centers, supercomputing and big data storage.
