The Bulgarian Dance – Horo in Washington

The “Great Bulgarian Horo Washington 2018” was held for the first time at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC on May 12th, 2018.

The event was dedicated to the day of “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” and the initiative “The Roses of Bulgaria,” launched by the Ministry of Education and Science to showcase the Bulgarian community as well as the activities of the Bulgarian schools abroad. It was organized by the Bulgarian Community Center, the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian schools in the Washington area.

The Bulgarian horo was preceded by student groups’ performances from the four Bulgarian schools in the States of Maryland, Virginia and the Federal District of Columbia, as well as seven dancing and singing ensembles.

More than 400 Bulgarians and Americans danced together to the Bulgarian traditional music.
