Bulgarian books donation to the Library of Congress on May 24th

 

On May 24th – Day of Bulgarian Enlightenment and Culture and the Slavonic Alphabet, a book donation ceremony was held at the United States Library of Congress.

The Union of the Bulgarian writers in the USA and worldwide donated 47 Bulgarian books, including works by Simeon Gasparov, Ivo Ivanov, Lubomir Kanov, Zachary Karabashliev, Dobri Karabonev, and others, to be included in the Bulgarian collection in the Library of Congress.

The ceremony was attended by the Bulgarian Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Tihomir Stoytchev, the Consul General of Bulgaria in Chicago, Mr. Ivan Anchev, and representatives of the Union of the Bulgarian writers in the USA and worldwide.

Mr. Grant Harris, Chief of the European Division at the Library of Congress, and Ms. Angela Cannon, curator of the Bulgarian collection at the Library, accepted the book donation.
