Before/After is a play about the transformation of East-Central Europe told by the people who made it happen

Before/After is a play about the transformation of East-Central Europe told by the people who made it happen. It starts with the early efforts at reform in the 1960s and ends with the export of human rights organizing to Burma in the present day. A dozen remarkable people tell their stories in roughly chronological order. The first act, Before, portrays the story of the organizing that led up to the fall of the Wall. The second act, a video interlude, brings together the memories of people in the region about that night in November 1989. The third act, After, recounts the triumphs and tragedies of people trying to realize the hopes and dreams of 1989 in the decades that followed.

May 6: Before/After. World premiere is May 6. The performance is preceded by a round table dialogue on these human rights movements that led to the remarkable changed in East-Central Europe at the end of the Cold War. A reception follows the dialogue.
