Ambassador Georgi Panayotov recently participated in the Middle East Institute’s program, the “Ambassador Series”, designed to strengthen the engagement with the diplomatic community and provide a platform for Washington-based embassies to reach a broad cross-section of leaders.
The roundtable was attended by representative from leading DC think-tanks, academia and civil society organizations, as well as officials from the executive and legislative branches of the U.S. government.
They engaged in a constructive discussion focused on Bulgaria-U.S. security and defense cooperation, Black Sea security, Bulgaria’s response to Russian aggression in Ukraine, energy security, combating malign foreign influence and disinformation.
The main objective was to enhance the understanding between Bulgaria and the U.S. in times of rapid change and the emergence of new challenges to regional and global security.
