Dear Friends of Bulgaria,
Our National Day is March 3rd when we celebrate the liberation of Bulgaria. Due to the ongoing pandemic, I am not able to host a reception this year. However, I would like to invite you all to celebrate with us through a virtual performance of the famous and unique Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices ensemble, which will be available on March 3rd at:

Created in the early 1950’s, the ensemble’s first mission was to record authentic and arranged for multi-voiced folk songs. The choir’s album, released in 1987, won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album in 1990. Since then, the ensemble has performed more than 1500 concerts in some of the most prestigious venues in the world. Choir members have also worked with artists such as Kate Bush, U2, and Drake. Their music has been acclaimed by various artists in the likes of Paul Simon, George Harrison, David Bowie, and Frank Zappa.
Once described as “the marriage of the avant-garde and the Middle Ages”, the magic of the ensemble stems from its success in mastering Bulgaria’s diverse, age-old vocal traditions while simultaneously sounding modern and original.
