LEGALIZATION OF A DOCUMENT ISSUED BY US INSTITUTIONSThe Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents ("Hague Legalization Convention") is in force for Bulgaria as of April 30, 2001. If a document (power of attorney, affidavit, birth, death and marriage record, incorporation papers, deeds, patent application and other legal papers) issued in the USA, needs to be used in Bulgaria, obtaining a special "apostille" certificate (and, in most cases, a translation of the document) is generally all that is required.
