LEGALIZATION OF A DOCUMENT ISSUED BY US INSTITUTIONS

The Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents ("Hague Legalization Convention") is in force for Bulgaria as of April 30, 2001. If a document (power of attorney, affidavit, birth, death and marriage record, incorporation papers, deeds, patent application and other legal papers) issued in the USA, needs to be used in Bulgaria, obtaining a special "apostille" certificate (and, in most cases, a translation of the document) is generally all that is required.
