FIRST SLAVIC SPRING FESTIVAL IN WASHINGTON, D.C. On March 31st, 2007 Bulgaria will be represented at the first Slavic Spring Festival in Washington, D.C., hosted by the Slavic Cultural Festival Committee (SCFC) of the George Washington University. The festival is aimed at illustrating the diversity in the identity in a large undertaking combining the direction and input of the embassies of Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Macedonia, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine. The Bulgarian Embassy will present the special edition of the hymn to the Saints Cyril and Methodius, creators of the Slavic alphabet. The booklet comprises translations of the hymn into the languages of all European Union member states. Upon the accession of Bulgaria to the EU on January 1st, 2007, the Slavic alphabet became a part of the common cultural heritage of the Union.
